Adding, claiming, and fixing — which one do I need?

Three different jobs that are easy to mix up. Here's how to tell them apart.

These three sound similar and do completely different things. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason people get stuck.

Adding

The church isn't on Church Rating at all. Nothing comes up when you search for it.

Anyone can add a church — a member, a visitor, a neighbour. You don't need permission from the church. See My church isn't listed.

Claiming

The church is already listed, and you help run it.

Claiming means taking ownership of a page that already exists, so you can keep the details current and reply to reviews. It's free, and it's meant for pastors, staff, and volunteers who are authorised to speak for the church.

Start from the church's own page and look for the claim option, or read what claiming gives you.

Fixing

The church is listed, but something is wrong — old service times, a moved address, a missing website.

You don't have to claim a church to help fix it. Small corrections can be suggested straight from the church's page, and a moderator checks them before they go live.

If something is seriously wrong — a church that has closed, a duplicate listing, or anything that shouldn't be public — get in touch and tell us what you're seeing.
