How rating a church works
What the score means, who can rate, and why a church can't change its own.
Every church on Church Rating can be rated by the people who've actually been there. Those ratings combine into one score out of 10.
How to rate a church
Find the church, open its page, and choose Rate. You'll score it on a handful of separate things rather than one overall gut feeling, and you can leave a written review as well if you want to. The review is optional.
You need a free account to rate a church, so that each person counts once.
What the score means
The score is the community's average across those categories. It goes up and down as new ratings come in, and it reflects the people who've rated — nothing else.
A low score isn't a judgement from us. We don't rate churches ourselves.
Churches can't change their score
This is the part people most want to know, so plainly:
- A church cannot edit its rating.
- A church cannot hide or delete reviews it doesn't like.
- A church cannot pay to raise its score, and there is no product that does so.
A church that claims its page can reply to reviews publicly — which we'd encourage — and that's the whole of the influence it has.
Reviews we do remove
We take down reviews that are abusive, name private individuals, or clearly aren't about a visit to that church. If you've seen one like that, report it and a moderator will look.
